Absolutely not. All of our community events—including our flagship Crafts & Yaps—are designed to be completely beginner-friendly. We scaffold every step, provide hands-on guidance with physical tools, and prioritize the joy of process over perfection. If you want to craft, you belong here.PS: If you have a disability that impacts your ability to participate in crafts, please tell us. We would love to figure out how to modify tools and provide the right accommodations so you can participate too. We might not have the solution right away, but our goal is to ensure everyone, regardless of ability, can participate in crafts.

What makes ACS community workshops different from a standard craft class?

Most craft classes focus on producing a flawless, cookie-cutter souvenir. At ACS, craft is our medium for wellbeing and human connection. In most of our community events, we integrate non-intrusive social prompts, encourage parallel play, and embrace the raw, natural imperfections of materials like wood. You leave not just with a physical creation, but hopefully also with a quiet(er) brain and new social bonds.

What is "Crafts & Yaps" and how does it work?

Crafts & Yaps is our signature 1-hour mystery craft and social connection event. You show up, we reveal a quick, beginner-friendly project, and as our hands get busy, we share facilitated conversations around personality, life transitions, and creative play. It’s the ultimate low-pressure way to meet new people in Hong Kong without awkward networking icebreakers.

What happens if I make a mistake or ruin my project during a workshop?

Well, we celebrate mistakes. We believe there's no better way to learn something new (about the craft, about ourselves, or our reactions to mistakes). So, we love a mistake! Most heritage crafts are subtractive art forms. Mistakes are a natural, irreversible part of working with real organic materials. We teach you how to adapt, reframe, or start again. In fact, in our flagship resilience formats, if your project doesn't go to plan, you earn an invitation to come back and try again. Failure here isn't a flaw; it's proof of practice.

Can I book private sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We offer private studio bookings for individuals, small groups, and private celebrations (like alternative birthdays or creative gatherings). Private bookings can be done on a project-based basis as well. So, if you have a project in mind, get in touch and we'll set you up with specific classes so you can complete your project from start to finish with guided support directly from the experts.
